Lahore: Smuggled milk powder caught by customs depart

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Customs officials conducted a press conference in Lahore on Monday in which they revealed catching smuggled milk powder coming all the way from Afghanistan and sold in local markets.

The powdered milk was stored in the warehouse of a rice mill near Muridke. The milk was repackaged from big bags to compact packets before selling.

According to the officials of custom department, the net worth of milk powder is close to Rs 60 million whereas government suffered from a loss of Rs 43 million in terms of undocumented tax.

The suspects escaped from the spot while the action was being taken by the department of customs. However, search operations have commenced in search of these criminals.
