10 Stunning Hotels in the Maldives

Donald Trump’s budget cuts could actually start shutting down small airports in some of the areas where people voted for him. If the Trump administration’s budget proposal passes there are 112 different regional U.S. airports that could be affected.

To create this airports to begin with the Essential Air Services (EAS) program was created to “guarantee that small communities that were served by certificated air carriers before airline deregulation maintain a minimal level of scheduled air service.” The program costs about $175 million each year.

The Trump administration says that many of these smaller airports “have high subsidy costs per passenger” and that the communities who use them “could be served by other existing modes of transportation.”

The spending on the program has been rising over the past ten years despite considerations to shut it down.
